pirut walks the plank

Well this is just grand. I do my monthly updates and decided to add a piece of software listed in Fedora's database. The program pirut, also know as "Add/Remove Software" in GNOME decides to delete ALL checked items reguardless if they were check as being installed or checked as being selected.

So everything that was checked for selection got installed. Everything that was automatically selected as already installed was deleted.

Smooth move, pirut programmer. From now on, I'm sticking with yum.

One good thing that came out of all this is a fresh start. I was able to install everything I usually use, but now I need to find my system programms. The settings are still intact and are being used, but the user interfaces are gone.

What is also gone, or atleast I hope most of it is gone, is SELinux, which interfered with Apache. I don't know what it is that was added to SELinux recently, but it was so terribly stupid that I had to get rid of it. That's the NSA for you, I guess. Perhaps I'll write a script incase one another one of these FUBARS occur, which is very rare on Linux. Ususally everything runs smoothly. I'll have to do some testing to make sure.
